She's coming back!

Lauren Taylor, the ultimate wise-cracking sewing sprite, will return to A Gathering of Stitches for another Garment sewing weekend this Spring. Just in time to start your Summer wardrobe off on the right foot....

Come spend a long weekend working through a sewing project of your choosing with Lauren Taylor of LLADYBIRD.  Lauren will spend four days in our studios working with a small group of sewists to focus on sharpening your sewing skills, and working through fabric, pattern and construction issues to help you take a big leap forward in your personal sewing practice.

Lauren is a prolific sewist who loves both a good sewing challenge and the basic production of 'cake' garments. If you are a follower of her highly popular blog LLADYBIRD, you know her voice, her output, her technique, and her infectious enthusiasm. This is going to be another unique weekend of sewing and laughing, and talking and communing and creating and making.... and, damn it's going to be fun!

On the opening Wednesday night we will gather at the studio for a welcome reception with pizza and libations. Every morning we will meet at the studio and set some plans for the day. The morning will then be spent sewing (or brainstorming, or conferring, or whatever). We'll break for a catered lunch (be sure to tell me if you have any food allergies etc.). The afternoon will be more of the same. Or if you want to take a break and do some exploring, Maine is pretty beautiful, I can point you in many different directions.  In the evening you can go off by yourself and explore further, or you can team up for more adventures. There is usually a group that goes out for dinner. On our last afternoon we will convene to discuss what we've learned, and present a mini fashion show of all our makes!  The last night we will celebrate with a special meal of amazing local ingredients, held at one of Portland's famed restaurants.  This will be a very special long weekend with an amazing maker, in a beautiful part of the world.
